Kirkwood in April

Did you think we had lost motivation to continue our exploration of St. Louis? A trip to Florida in February and no communication in March?
Did you question whether we could continue to find things to do in good ol' St. Looey? Well we are back and now that Spring has sprung (at least Missouri style--hot, muggy days, then super chilly days and finally beautiful Spring days) we are ready to continue our exploration of all things St. Louis! Because the discovery-bug had been dormant for two months, I had a hard time coming up with a plan for the day. We ended up easing back into things with a trip to Laumeier Scuplture Park, lunch at Dewey's Pizza (Kirkwood), window shopping in Kirkwood and a visit to the Kirkwood Farmer's Market.

Laumeier Sculpture Park

There are several reasons why I would suggest going to the sculpture park: *Like many places in St. Louis the sculpture park is free. * The sculptures are nestled within a park with walking trails. * Sculptures are an interesting art form. (I personally didn't "get" half of what we saw, but that is not a reason not to go!) * It may spark your own creativity!

I think this piece is entitled "Eye"
(Not clear how they came up with the name)

I am standing next to "Ready? Spaghetti!" and Karen next to "Poodle Badoodle" Okay, not really...I am standing next to "Knots" and Karen next to "Sugabus"

Not a joke...Ball? Ball! Wall? Wall!...is the name of the sculpture

Now the next sculpture should be called..."HEY GET OFF OF MY FACE!!!!"
But it isn't...

Now I want your opinion on the next sculpture...what does it remind you of?

This sculpture reminds me of 3 things.

1) Death of a Salesman
2) A John Wayne Western
and
3) The Holocaust
Strange, maybe...but I think of all of those things when I look at the sculpture.

Kirkwood

Okay so this pizza wasn't quite as good as the pizza we had in Florida but this was still a good pie! Karen went with Hawaiian while I had a veggie. Not sure if the Hawaiian was good, but the veggies were fresh and delicious!
After some much needed vittles...a little window shopping was in order. Kirkwood has several interesting shops that delivered some much needed laughs!

Just so you know, you did not miss Karen's birthday, it is not this month.
And if you are interested in buying some Squirrel Underpants, I would suggest checking out the Small Animal Decency Organization at http://www.smallanimaldecency.com/
So now that we are motivated again (okay now that I am motivated again, Karen is always ready to explore) we hope you check us each month as we set out to prove that St. Louis has got it going on!
HAPPY EASTER!
