St. Louis Cardinals

Hot, sticky St. Louis summers are not complete without a trip to Busch Stadium to watch the Cardinals. When you have a chance to go, you must...If you have other plans, you do your best to change them...when I got a phone call from Karen offering me a ticket for Tuesday's game against the Padres, I jumped at the chance to go. It was the perfect way to celebrate the end of my first year of high school teaching and a great way to start my summer vacation!

Of all of my trips to the stadium, I don't remember a night quite a beautiful as Tuesday. The weather was wonderful, not hot and sticky and the Cardinals won. The night ended with a shut out courtesy of Wainwright, the Cardinals beating the Padres 4-0. Still the best part of the night may have been the funny kids sitting in front of and behind us. The cotton candy covered children in front of us were loud and obnoxious as they cheered for the Cards, but their happiness made the whole thing hysterically funny.

The child behind us however should get an award for being the most well versed child commentator of baseball. He seriously talked the entire 7 innings his family was there. He could be the next voice of the Cardinals. He would have to control his anger towards Fredbird though...

At one point during the evening Fredbird and the Cardinal girls were "shooting" t-shirts into the crowd. They were at least 2 sections to the left of us, but the children around us went absolutely crazy...they wanted those t-shirts. Well of course Fredbird didn't come anywhere near us, which almost incited a riot from the child commentator behind us. He shouted...

"HOW DARE YOU IGNORE US!" and "YOU ARE A DUMB FLIGHTLESS BIRD!!"

Karen and I could barely control our laughter, it was by far one of my funniest Busch Stadium memories. Like I said before, it was a great way to start the summer!

The Butterfly House

Sorry for the long delay in our posting.  Is anyone still reading this blog?  I sure hope so.
Well, Mary and I finally go together for an adventure.  We made it to The Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House.  Basically it's a conservatory (that you can walk through) that houses different varieties of butterflies.  It's pretty neat-o!!

La cucaracha!

And, what would an adventure be if we didn't go out to eat?  This time, it was Smash Burger.  It was pretty good!

Gooey butter cake milkshakes!  De-lish!!
And a little trip to Charming Charlies for a scarf.
