Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis
AKA, the New Cathedral, was completed in 1914. It is known for its large mosaic, which just happens to be the largest in the world.
I, Karen, apologize in advance for the unevenly spaced pictures.

The mosaic ceiling.

The Fabulous Fox Theater
Our journey also brought us to The Fox Theater. It was built in 1929 and was movie palace. After a few rough years of vandalism and people being stupid it was completely
restored in 1982 for a cool $3 million. The interior decorations are in the unique style of Siamese Byzantine. Mrs. Fox was given a budget (which she exceeded) to decorate the entire theater. The lion's eyes light up. Cool.
This elephant hangs over the stage. His trunk is up to wish the performers "good luck".
The Wulitzer Pipe Organ
This baby cost $75,000 in 1929. It's pretty cool. It can play the sound of different instruments and the theater is even equipped with surround sound. It rises up from the floor!
We were even able to hear an organ concert on this very instrument.Looking down at the main lobby.
I rubbed his trunk for good luck. I don't believe it worked.
This is a super-fancy room where you can have dinner before the show. I don't remember the name of it though.
Mary was shocked by something.
We're in the boys restroom. There was some "interesting" "artwork" hanging up.
The view from the stage.
The girls.
I hurt my foot doing this.Christina was super excited to find this STL treasure.
The Compton Hill Water Tower
It was built in the late 19th century on the highest part of the city.
The view from the top.
We also stopped for a little gelato.
I tried some spicy chipotle, chili, super-hot chocolate kind. Ick. Too hot. Mary and Christina, however, found it delicious.
